gender identity

noun

a person's inner sense of being male, female, or another gender, usually developed during early childhood as a result of parental rearing practices and societal influences and strengthened during puberty by hormonal changes.

One's gender identity may continue to evolve over time and may diverge from the male/female gender division. See the usage note at gender ¹none.

She quickly dismissed any notions that her gender identity was a barrier for entry for Republican support in her district.

Gender Fluid- someone whose gender identity and presentation are not confined to only one gender category.

Agender - Someone who does not identify with any sort of gender identity.

Female to Male/ FTM- a trans person who was assigned female sex, and now lives as a man and has a masculine gender identity.

Cis Male (see also Cis Man, Cisgender Male, Cisgender Man); a male who identifies as a man/has a masculine gender identity.
